OUR STORY When
we emigrated from England to Australia, our two children were under
the age of 6. Like a lot of families going through the relocation
We then did what most of you are probably doing now, sold our house, car and pretty much everything else and shipped just 13 boxes over to Oz. Our original destination was Brisbane, Queensland. We have family there and had visited prior to making our decision to emigrate. In the first six weeks we encountered various problems, first being that it took us over a week to hire a car! Then like headless chickens we took to travelling in the car for up to 6 hours a day, searching for an area, schools, jobs and amenities that was right for us. Events happened daily; we lost our passports, locked keys in the car, and because we didn't have any rental history, were unsuccessful on three rental properties we had put applications in for. Our tempers were severely tested – you name it – it happened. However, we were lucky, we had good family support and very patient children!, which made all the difference. We started looking further a field and decided to visit Melbourne and then on to Adelaide (where we also have family). Adelaide, for us just felt right and we decided to make it our home. Adelaide is beautiful, it is called the twenty minute city, you can be most anywhere in twenty minutes!! It has a Mediterranean climate (not too hot for us Brits), and is homeland to the most amazing wine manufacturers in the world, gorgeous sandy beaches, 400 festivals a year and I could go on and on and on. So after more hiring of cars, renting accommodation, school searches, etc, we have finally settled and are now living the more family orientated lifestyle we planned for. The happy ending to our Story is that from learning the hard way and doing lots and lots of research, we can offer you a smoother stress free adjustment to your new life. We can relieve you and your family of all the uncertainty and hours of dreaded car travel. From hiring cars, renting accommodation, from looking for schools, finding jobs, buying a car, renting or buying furniture, finding doctors, dentists, grocery stores the list goes on.
